Women in Tourism – Conference 2024

In March 2024, Eva Tzoumpa Human Resource Services and Akademia College co-organized the Women in Tourism conference under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, with the support of the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Paralimni Municipality.

The event brought together professionals, policymakers, and academics to address critical gender equality issues in the tourism sector. Keynote speaker, the Commissioner for Gender Equality, provided valuable insights, answered questions, and proposed practical solutions for fostering a more inclusive workplace.

Conference Themes

The program explored four key areas:

  • Public Policy & Equality – Government action on gender equality and fair participation in employment and tourism.
  • Challenging Stereotypes – New dimensions in tourism branding through women’s empowerment.
  • Education & Development – The role of academic training in supporting women’s growth.
  • Women in Business Strategy – Women’s role in business development, growth, and prosperity.

The conference featured inspiring contributions from:

  • Raluca-Ioana Man – Brand Strategist, Vice President, ICC Women Network Cyprus
  • Katerina Soulioti – Lecturer, Akademia College

Participation & Impact

Over 50 participants attended the conference, including women professionals from the tourism industry, business leaders, and HR specialists. The lively discussions and Q&A sessions highlighted the challenges and opportunities for advancing gender equality in Cyprus’ tourism sector.
